Yesteryear classic movie, Pakeezah, written and directed by Kamal Amrohi was released in the year 1972. The movie starred Raj Kumar, Ashok Kumar and Meena Kumari in lead roles. The superhit and evergreen music of the film was given by Naushad and the songs were sung by Mohammed Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar. The movie took almost 14 years to shoot because of some problems between the actress and director. Later Sunil Dutt and Nargis did the patch up between them. The movie went on to became successful at the box office window.

The movie starts with beautiful, Nargis ( Meena Kumari ), who is a famous dancer and singer and popularly known as Sahibjaan. She was brought up by Nawabjaan ( Veena Sapru ). Salim Ahmed Khan ( Raj Kumar ) gets fascinated by Sahibjaan’s beauty and innocence. He asks her to leave the profession of dancing and singing. She also agrees to do so but the surrounding environment doesn’t allow her to leave her profession.

Salim then asks her to get married with him and to change her name to ‘Pakeezaah’. Sahibjaan refuses to his offer and returns to her previous life. Heartbroken Salim decides to get married with someone else. He invites Sahibjaan to dance at his wedding function. Sahibjaan also heartedly agrees to go there. But there happens something really unexpected which no one have even thought in their dreams ?
