Bollywood romantic comedy drama, Parakh, directed by Bimal Roy and written by Salil Chaudhary was released in the year 1960. The movie starred Nasir Hussain and Sadhana Shivdasani in lead roles while Leela Chitnis, Durga Khote, Mumtaz Begum, Asit Sen, Kanhaiyalal, Vasant Chaudhary, Praveen paul and Rashid Khan also played important characters in the film. The hit evergreen music of the movie was composed by the veteran well known music director Salil Chaudhary while the songs were crooned by Manna Dey, Lata Mangeshkar etc.

The movie starts with a guy named Niravan ( Nasir Hussain ), who is a postmaster by profession and lives in a village. He life gets upturned when he recives an enevelope consisting of a cheque of a very large amount. He is assigned the task of delievering this cheque to the most honest man of the village. Niravan calls all the villagers for a meeting and inform them about the issue. All villagers decides that there are only five people in the village who can be termed honest.

So all of them decides to do election in the village to decides who will get the check. But everyone get shocked when the election results reveals that none of the five person has won the elections. Then the duty is once again assigned to Niravan for selecting the best person as the reciever of the check. Nirvana gets confused to this as he himself also need the money for the dowry of his daughter, Seema ( Sadhana Shivdasani ). What will happen next?
