Bollywood movie, Parinda, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra was released on November 3, 1989. The movie starred Jackie Shrauff, Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit in lead roles while Nana Patekar and Anupam Kher also played important characters in the film. The movie was distributed under the banner of Vinod Chopra Productions. The music of the film was given by Rajat Dholakia and Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the songs were sung by Asha Bhonsle, Shailendra Singh, Suresh Wadkar, Shantanu Mukherjee and Sagarika. the movie went on to won several Filmfare awards of that year.

The movie starts with Kishen ( Jackie Shroff ), who is the henchman of don, Anna ( Nana Patekar ). Though kishen himself is a criminal but he always tries to keep his brother Karan ( Anil Kapoor ) away from the crime world. He sends him abroad to do better studies. After several years, Karan returns to Bombay. he meets with his childhood love Paro ( Madhuri Dixit ), who is also happen to be his best friend, Prakash’s ( Anupam Kher ) younger sister. Karan and Kishen also decides to meet Parakash. Karan asks Prakash to come near Dadar Railway Station to meet.

Prakash arrives there and meets with the Karana and Kishen. But suddenly three mens gunned down Prakash in fron of them. Karan now wants to identify those killers and get them arrested. Karan goes to meet Paro but she says bad words to him. Surprised Karan learns from her that the whole drama was created by his own brother, Kishen. Kishen alongwith Anna had planned the death of Prakash and he was just a mere pawn in this.
