Pati Patni Aur Tawaif was a family drama released on May 18, 1990. The movie was directed as well as produced by Rajkumar Kohli. The top roles in the movie were enacted by Mithun Chakraborty, Salma Agha, Farha and Aruna Irani while the presence of Om Parkesh, Amjad Khan, Sumeet Sehgal, Birbal, Anita Raaj, Darshan and Jagdeep supported the film. The music of the film was directed by Laxmikant Kudalkar and Pyarelal while the songs were sung by Mohammad Aziz and Kavita Krishnamurthy.

The story of the movie revolves around Vijay Saxena ( Mithun Chakraborty ) who is a well known actor cum director of Bollywood. He has a beautiful wife Shanti Verma Saxena ( Farha ) and a good child. The turn in the story comes when a Bollywood actress Kiran shows an outburst of temper and walks out on his movie, Vijay is then introduced to a prostitute by the named Gauri ( Salma Agha ).

Vijay was so much floored by the prostitute Gauri that he signs her up for his next movie and offers her the lead role. But the most unexpected happened when both Gauri and he got intimate, and as a result Gauri gets pregnant and gives birth to a daughter. Gauri then meets another wealthy movie producer Prince Kumar ( Sumeet Sehgal ) and decides not to do anything with Vijay anymore. She wanted her and Vijay’s daughter as a prostitute like her, so that she could provide in for her old age.
