Bollywood action drama, Phool Aur Patthar, directed by O. P. Ralhan and written by Akhtar-Ul-Iman was released in the year 1966. The movie starred Dharmendra and Meena Kumari in lead roles while Lalita Pawar, Jeevan, Shashikala, Sunder, Manmohan Krishna, Brahm Bhardwaj, Iftekhar and Madan Puri also played significant characters in the film. The hit melodious music of the movie was directed by the veteran music director Ravi while the songs were rendered by Mohammed Rafi, Asha Bhonsle etc.

The movie starts with a guy named Shakti Singh aka Shaka ( Dharmendra ), who is a deadly criminal. He enters in a house for hiding from police. In the house, he finds a widowed women named Shanti ( Meena Kumari ), who has been left by her in-laws to die. Shaka reveals that Shanti is in a very bad condition so he decides to nurse her. Soon she recovers from her bad state. But problem arises when her in-laws returns to the house and get shocked to see her alive. Meanwhile, Shaka performs robbery in the house and runs away from there.

The blame of robbing is now on Shanti, who is then badly beated by her in-laws. But once again Shaka comes to her rescue and they both manage to escape from there. Shanti starts living alongwith Shaka in his house much to the displeasure of the neighbours. Then it is revealed that Shanti has been left a legacy. This one thing makes her in-law to ask her to start living with them once again. But now Shanti has to decide whether she wants to live alongwith her in-laws or Shaka?
