Phoonk was a horror movie that was released on August 22, 2008 under the banner of One More Thought Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. The movie had been directed by Ram Gopal Varma and produced by Azam Khan and Parvez Damania. The actors in the lead roles were Sudeep, Kenny Desai, Ahsaas Channa, Amruta Khanvilkar and Ashwini Kalsekar while the roles of Shankar Sachdev, Madhuri Purandare, Bharat Kaul, Zakir Hussain and Geetanjali were also significant.

The story of the movie revolves around Rajeev ( Sudeep ), a businessman with loving wife and two children. He is a non believer on God and also laughs at people who believe them.

One day an evil let loose, threatened his family and this was the time which shook all his beliefs and confidence. Rajeev was stirred by the incident of his daughter getting out of control. Madhu ( Ashwini Kalsekar ) takes help of black magic but some spirit enters inside the girl’s soul. Strange things start happening to her as she starts making noise and gets beaten, pulled and slapped. Doctors feel that it was some neurological disorder and her grandmother feels that it is the influence of some black magic. Rajeev later realizes that she was influenced by some black magic.
