The suspense thriller Police Public was released on May 11, 1990. The movie was directed by Esmayeel Shroff and produced by Vijay Mehta. The important roles in the movie were played by Naseruddin Shah, Kabir Bedi, Poonam Dhillon and Reema Lagoo while the presence of Ila Arun, Prem Chopra, A K Hangal, Arbaaz Ali Khan, Raj Kiran, Rakesh Bedi and Sudhir Dalvi supported the film. The music of the film was directed by Ram Lakshman and the songs were sung by Amit Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle.

The movie Police Public was an action cum thriller film that starts with the modest teacher Mr. Ram Swarup ( A K Hangal ). His family was not big and just consisted of two daughters Karuna Swarup ( Poonam Dhillon ) and Usha Swarup ( Shikha Swaroop ). Ram Swarup was overwhelmed when he received a marriage proposal from the leading businessman of the city Mr. Kishan Sharma ( Prem Chopra ) for his son Arun Sharma’s ( Raj Kiran ) wedding with Karuna.

While on one side Ram Swarup was feeling himself lucky but on the other side, the businessman Mr. Kishan was having different plans for the bride. Sharma was in some kind of shock when he realized that Ram Swarup had kept some piece of land in Delhi for the wedding of his second daughter. Sharma decides to play some game with Ram Swarup asking him to give the land for showing in some business deal but later justifies it as dowry for his son’s wedding.
