The comedy drama Pran Jaye Par Shaan Na Jaye was released on May 2, 2003 under the banner of Mindblowing Movies. The movie was directed by Sanjay Jha and produced by Mahesh Manjrekar. The important roles in the movie were played by Aman Verma, Namrata Shirodkar, Raveena Tandon and Dia Mirza while the presence of Rinke Khanna and Divya Dutta supported the film. Music of the film was directed by Dabboo Malik and the songs were sung by Vinod Rathod, Dabboo Malik, Nitin Raikwar and Sonu Nigam.

The movie Praan Jaye Par Shaan Na Jaye, directed by Sanjay Jha is the story of common people and middle class families living in Popatlal Chunilal Garodiya chawl in Mumbai. The movie displays their lives, their problems and even their fight with the new landlord. The landlord wants to vacant the chawl and build a huge complex in place of it. The story of the movie is being narrated by Sushmita Sen who introduces the characters to the viewers. The residents of the chawl include Durga ( Raveena Tandon ) who is an unhappy housewife as she could not give birth to a child.

Durga’s financial position added more problems to her life as she could not even afford to get treated. There lived Suman ( Rinke Khanna ) and her father who were mourning the loss of her brother ( Sanjay Narvekar ) in a police encounter. Also there were Dulari ( Divya Dutta ) and Sheela ( Shweta Menon ) who were sad because of their useless husband’s constant need of sexual satisfaction. Soundarya ( Dia Mirza ) was also worried about her unattractive face. It seems that the chawl is full of people who were facing the problems more than anything else.
