Dharmendra and Hema Malini starrer action thriller Pratiggya was released on June 23, 1975. The movie was written by Shafiq Ansari and directed by Dulal Guha. The other starcast of the film includes Nasir Hussain, Ajit, Jagdeep, Keshto Mukherjee, Satyendra Kapoor, Abhi Bhattacharya and Johnny Walker in important roles. The music of the movie was composed by the well known veteran music director duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal while the songs were rendered by Mohammed Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar etc.

Ajit Singh ( Dharmendra ) is in search of a notorious bandit named Bharat Thakur ( Ajit ) who is responsible for the murder of his parents and his younger brother. Ajit himself is a criminal and is now on a run from police. Ajit ends up witnessing a shoot-out between the bandits and the police mens. The police mens were on their way to set up a police station in a village. The village is ruled by the bandit, Bharat Thakur and when he learns about the police mens, he kills all the police mens in the shoot-out.

Ajit then decides to pretend to be a policeman in front of the villager. He arrives in the village and learns that the villagers are too sacred of the bandits. Ajit meets with a beautiful girl named Radha ( hema Malini ) in the village and ends up falling in love with her. Ajit then decides to train the villagers so that they can fight against the bandits on their own. Will he be able to succeed in his intentions or not?
