Pratigyabadh was an action movie released on July 19, 1991 under the banner of B R Films. The movie was directed by Ravi Chopra and the producer was B R Chopra. The lead roles in the movie were played by Mithun Chakraborty, Sujata Mehta and Sunil Dutt. Some good roles were played by Kumar Gaurav, Neelam Kothari, Anupam Kher and Amita Nangia. The music of the movie was directed by Anandji, Kalyanji and Bappi Lahiri. The songs were sung by Kumar Sanu, Anuradha Paudwal, Alka Yagnik and Sadhna Sargam.

In the movie Laxmi ( Beena Banerjee ) has three children and her husband is in Bombay trying hard to earn some money but unable to pay his liability to Lala Sukhilal ( Girja Shankar ). Lala Sukhilal takes the advantage of this and wants to get close to Laxmi, she refuses and Lala occupies her property. Now, Laxmi is alone and there is no one to help her, she wants to educate her children and give them a secure future. So she decides to go to Bombay to live with her husband.

On her way to Bombay, she takes lift from a truck driver Tej Bahadur ( Anupam Kher ). Tej makes Laxmi to sit beside her and children are thrown in the back of the truck. On the way he rapes Laxmi and this shock leads to her death. He ties up young Shankar ( Mithun Chakraborty ) but to his bad luck he forgets his cigarette lighter and license number of the truck. Now Shankar is grown up and wants to take the revenge of his mother’s death. On the other hand Tej is now a big criminal. Will Shankar be able to take the revenge?
