Prem Bandhan was a romantic drama flick released on 19 January 1979 under the banner of Gauri Films. Ramanand Sagar directed and B.R. Nanda produced the movie. The lead cast of the movie involved Rajesh Khanna, Rekha and Moushumi Chatterjee while Vikram, Helen, Keshto Mukherjee, A.K. Hangal and Lalita Pawar played the supporting roles. Asha Bhosle, Manna Dey, Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar sang the songs while Laxmikant and Pyarelal gave the music for the movie.

Mahua ( Rekha ) belongs to a backward family and resides with her widowed father in an underprivileged condition in a fishing village. One day, the priest of a nearby temple rescues a male and asks Mahua’s dad to look after him. The man lost his memory after the accident .So, they called him Kishan ( Rajesh Khanna ) .Due to spending too much time with him, Mahua deeply falls in love with him. Soon, they get married. Few months later, Kishan visits the city due to some work.

Against Mahua and her father’s expectations, he does not return. Concerned and agitated Mahua reports in the police but does not succeed in her attempts of finding her husband. Few months later, she meets a doctor who informs her that he recalls treating a male fitting Kishan’s description and gives her his Bombay address. On approaching Kishan’s house in Bombay, she discovers that he is now known as Mohan Khanna, a wealthy being who is engaged to equally wealthy Meena Mehra ( Moushumi Chatterjee ) and he refuses to recognize Mahua.
