Bollywood hit movie, Prem Rog, directed by Raj Kapoor was released on July 31,1982. The movie starred Rishi Kapoor and Padmini Kolhapure in lead roles while Shammi Kapoor, Tanuja, Nanda, Raza Murad and Kulbhushan Kharbanda also played important roles in the movie. The movie was distributed under the banner of R.K. Films Pvt. Ltd. The hit music of the film was given by the famous duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal. The movie deals with the sensitive issue of the second marraige of a widow. Padmini Kolhapuri won the Filmfare Best Actress Award for her beautiful act in the film.

The movie starts with a young and handsome guy named Devdhar ( Rishi Kapoor ). He is a poor orphan. Raja Thakur ( Shammi Kapoor ) helped him in completing his studies. After completing his education in the city, he returns back to his village. In his childhood days he had developed friendship with Thakur’s daughter Manorama ( Padmini Kolhapuri ). With in deep of his heart, Devdhar loves Manorama but because of his low status never couraged to tell it to her.

Manorama get married to a rich and handsome Kumar Narendra Pratap Singh. But very soon she becomes widow when her husband meets with an accident. She then returns back to her parental home. Devdhar also comes to know about this incident. He stills loves her and when people tries to force her to live a misery life of a widow, he simply stand by her. He also admits her love for her in front of all the people. He challenges the old traditions, rituals and customs to get married to her.
