Former bollywood actor, Raj Kumar, was born as Kulbushan Pandit on October 8, 1926 in Pakistan. He was known for his unique style of dailogue delivery. His son Puru Raj Kumar is also working as an actor in the bollywood industry. He made his Hindi film debut with a flop film titled Rangili in the year 1952. He was first noticed in Mehboob Khan’s classic movie Mother India in which he was paired opposite beautiful Nargis. He won several acclaims for his superb act in the film. His next big hit came in the form of 1959 released Paigham.

After that he was seen in a series of flop films. He then delievered two back to back hit films in the form of Kaajal and Waqt. He played gray shade characters in both the films and won praises for this from audiences as well as critics. he even won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor award for his performance in the film. He gave another superb performance in supernatural romantic thriller Neel Kamal. He went on to give subtle performances in the films like Pakezaah, Lal Patthar, Heer Ranjha, Humraaz etc.

After a long break from bollywood industry, he made a superb comeback with Subash Ghai’s Saudagar alongside another legendary actor, Dilip Kumar. The movie did exceptionally well at the box office. His next film titled Tiranga in which he was seen alongside Nana Patekar also did well at the box office. He then turned towards doing supporting roles in the films like Insaniyat Ka devta, Betaaj Badshah etc. His last movie was God and Gun which was released just one year before his death in the year 1996.
