Raja Aur Rana was a blend of action, crime, drama and comedy. The movie was released in 1984.The movie was produced by S K Kapur while directed by Shibu Mitra. The key roles in the movie were enacted by Pran, Ajit and Ashok Kumar while Puneet Issar, Alok Soundh and Shakti Kapoor played the supporting roles. Bappi Lahiri was the music director.

Ranbir Singh ( Pran ) is a sincere and hard-working police officer who succeeds in capturing a well known criminal, Teja ( Ajit ) and imprisoning him . However, Teja elopes from the prison and murders Ranbir’s son, Munna. Ranbir is grief-stricken after this news.Rajinder Singh ( Ashok Kumar ), his colleague officer , comes to console Ranbir, and they together plan to go secretly reside as Rana and Raja to trace Teja, who had been hiding using fake names in India as well as abroad.

Other police inspector Vijay ( Puneet Issar ) and his girlfriend Geeta ( Alok Soundh ) supported Ranbir and Rajinder. Teja’s goons murdered Geeta’s dad. Vijay stays with his mother ( Chand Usmani ) and a brother, Shakti Singh ( Shakti Kapoor ) who is a disgrace to his family. Soon, Teja uncovers Ranjit and decides to tempt him with the beauty of one of his girls, Lucky ( Madhu Malhotra ).The act of raja and rana becomes so evident that they are imprisoned and when they are bailed ,Teja shifts to a completely unknown place.
