Govinda and Raveena Tandon starrer comedy flick Raja Ji was released on May 21, 1999. The movie was directed by Vimal Kumar and written by Satish Jain. The other starcast of the movie includes Shakti Kapoor, Kadar Khan, Aruna Irani, Satish Kaushik, Mohan Joshi, Divya Dutta, Ranjeet and Shagufta Ali in important characters. The hit songs of the movie was directed by the well known music director duo Anand-Milind and Vishwajeet Mukherjee in collaboartion while the songs were rendered by Kumar Sanu, Vinod Rathod, Udit Narayn, Alka Yagnik, Anuradha Paudwal and Poornima.

Raja ( Govinda ) is the lazy son of Shivnath ( Kadar Khan ). Shivnath does not like the way Raja lives and wants him to take responsibilty of the home on his own. But Raja always wish to have an easy life. He meets with one of his old friend and learns that if he gets married with a rich girl the he will not have to work in his whole wife. He starts searching for a beautiful rich girl with whom he can get married. He meets with a wealthy girl named Payal ( Raveena Tandon ) and make her fall in love with him.

Shivnath also becomes with the news that his son is getting married. Raja and Payal get married with each other with the blessing of their respective parents. But just after their marraige, Raja learns that Payal is actually the daughter of the gardner of a rich man. He immediately leaves her. Fortune turns on Payal’s way and her father win a lottery. Raja also learn about this and decides to go back to Payal but her father refuse to accept him in his house now.
