Bollywood yesteryear classic, Rajnigandha, directed by Basu Chatterjee and written by Manu Bhandari was released in the year 1973. The movie starred Amol Palekar and Vidya Sinha in lead roles while Ranjeeta Thakur, Raj Prakash, Dinesh Thakur, Manju Maini and Veena DGodh also played significant characters in the film. The music of the movie was composed by the well knwon music director Salil Chaudhary while the songs were rendered by Mukesh, Lata Mangeshkar etc.

Young and beautiful Deepa Kapoor ( Vidya Sinha ) is living alongwith her elder brother and his wife. Deepa is studying in college. She meets with a guy named Sanjay ( Amol Palekar ) and soon they both falls in love with each other. They decides to get married soon. Deepa too wants to become self-dependent and therefore decides to do a job. She applies for a job in Bombay and recieves a call letter for job interview. She then goes to Bombay for the interview and ends up meeting with her ex-lover, Naveen ( Dinesh Thakur ).

Naveen is very different from Sanjay, while Sanjay is trying to be at a good postion at his job place, Sanjay is already a well settled guy. Naveen still love Deepa and wants to get married with her. Deepa too have some feelings for Naveen. Now she has to decides with whom she wants to spend her rest of life?
