Bollywood action thriller, Rakshak, directed by Ashok Handa was released in the year 1996. The movie starred Suneil Shetty and Sonali Bendre in lead roles while Aruna Irani, Dinesh Hingoo, Karishma Kapoor, Raghuvaran, Alok Nath and Raveena Tandon also played important roles in the film. The music of the film was given by famous music director duo Anand Milind while the songs were sung by S. P. Balasubramaniam, Aditya Narayan, Kumar Sanu, Alka Yagnik, Poornima, Sapna Mukherjee, Vinod Rathod and Abhijeet.

The movie starts with ASP Raj Sinha ( Suneil Shetty ) and his beautiful wife, Suman Sinha ( Karishma Kapoor ). Raghavan aka Raghu ( Raghavan ) is one of the close friend of Raj. Raj alongwith his family visits Raghavan’s house. There Raj learns that Raghavan is the head of the crime syndicate. Though, Raghavan suspended his criminal works for the time being for Raj’s arrival but still he reveals this secret of him. Raj ask him to surrender but he refuses and as a result Raj warns him for the bad consequences.

Raghavan kidnaps Raj’s wife Suman and his son, bunty for using them as a shield against Raj. But Raj somehow manage to enter in his den and arrests him. Raghavan tries to kill Raj but instead of him, Suman is killed. The only one left in Raj’s life is his son Bunty. Raghavan alongwith his mens beat Raj badly and throws his body out with his son. Raghu assumes that Raj is dead now. But Raj is still alive and receievs a good care from Dr. Pooja Malhotra ( Sonali Bendre ). Now Raj’s only mission in life is to kill Raghavan.
