Bollywood hit movie, Ram Aur Shyam, directed by Tapi Chankya was released in the year 1967.The movie starred ‘tragedy king’ Dilip Kumar and Waheeda Rehman in lead roles while Mumtaz and Pran also played important roles in the film. the melodious music of the movie was given by Naushad and the songs were sung by Mahendra Kapoor, Asha Bhonsle, Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammed Rafi. Dilip Kumar was seen in his first double role act in the film. the movie recieved an overwheling response from the audience and went on to become a big hit of that time.

The movei starts with two twin brothers, Ram and Shayam ( Dilip Kumar ), who get seperated at their brith. both the brothers grows up in different environment and conditions. Ram faces the abuses of his brother-in-law Gajendra ( Pran ) since his childhood. One day he runs away from the home so that he can live a free life without any fear. He enters in a small village where he is mistaken for local boy, Shyam, who is actually his twin brother.

Ram accepts his new identity and also Shyam’s mother, Ganga ( Leela Mishra ). On the otherhand, Shyam is also mistaken for Ram by Anjana ( Waheeda Rehman ). When Anjana brings Shyam to Ram’s home, Gajendra try to beat him up. But Shyam refuse to be beaten by him and instead beat Gajendra in front of all. Shyam changes the environments of Ram’s house and spreads love all over there. But soon Gajendra finds out the truth and makes a dangerous plan to kill Shyam.
