Bollywood feature film, Ram Lakhan, directed by the biggest showman of the bollywood industry, Subhash Ghai, was released in the year 1989. The movie starred Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff and Madhuri Dixit in lead roles while Rakhee, Dimple Kapadia, Amrish Puri and Paresh Rawal also played important characters in the film. The superhit music of the film was given by music director duo, Laxmikant Pyarelal and the songs were sung by Mohammed Aziz, Nitin Mukesh, Lata Mangeshkar, Amit Kumar, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Manhar Udhas etc. The movie performed quite well at the box office.

Thakur Pratap Singh ( Dalip Tahil ) is murdered by his two evil cousins, Bhishamber ( Amrish Puri ) and Bhanu ( Paresh Rawal ). Pratap’s wife Sharda ( Rakhee ) alongwith her two sons, Ram ( Jackie Shroff ) and Lakhan ( Anil Kapoor ), is thrown out of his husband’s haveli. Shardha decides to take revenege from her husband’s killer and waits for her sons to grow up. Ram and Lakhan grows up but becomes very different from each other. Lakhan always dreams big and wants to achieve success anyhow.

Ram becomes a police officer. Lakhan too joins the police department as a police inspector but inlike to his elder brother, he uses his position for making money. And this negative mindset of Lakhan creates a wall between him and his elder brother, Ram. Sharda tries to change Lakhan mindset but fails. Lakhan joins Bhishamber’s gang and starts making money by allowing their illegal activities.
