Bollywood movie, Ram Teri Ganga Maili, directed by Raj Kapoor was released on July25, 1985. The movie starred Rajiv Kapoor and Mandakini in lead roles while Raza Murad, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Saeed Jaffrey also played important roles in the film. The superhit music of the film was given by Ravindra Jain and the songs were sung by Suresh Wadkar, Lata Mangeshkar etc. The movie became one of the huge hit of the year and many people thinks that it was because of Mandakini’s sex appeal that she displayed in the film.

The movie starts with a young man named Narendra Sahay aka Naren ( Rajiv Kapoor ), who belongs to a very rich family. His father Jeeva Sahay ( Kulbhushan Kharbanda ) is a very strict person and have a very good hold on each member of the family. Naren visits the mountanis of Gangotri with his friends. there he meets with a beautiful girl named Ganga ( Mandakini ) and instantly fall in the love with her. they both get married to each other and then Naren goes back to city to convince his parents aout this marraige.

Naren makes peomise to Gnaga that he will come back for her at any cost. But unfortunately Naren’s grandmother dies. He then tell the truth to his father, who punishes him for this and make it clear to him that he will never return to that village. On the otherhand, Ganga becomes mother of his child and finally decides to go to the city in search of her husband. But her journey becomes a true nightmare for her as she meets some really mean bad people in between. Will she be able to find her husband is the real question?
