Songs of Roza
Bollywood blockbuster movie, Roja, written and directed by Mani Ratnam was released in the year 1992. The movie starred Arvind Swamy and Madhoo in lead roles while Pankaj Kapoor and Nasser also important roles in the movie. The movie was distributed under the banner of Madras Talkies. The superhit music of the film was given by A. R. Rahman and the songs were sung by S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, Chitra, Hariharan and Sujata. This was the debut movie for A. R .Rahman.
The movie starts with young and beautiful, Roja ( Madhoo ), who is a simple village girl. She is excited with the fact that a handsome top cryptologist, Rishi Kumar ( Arvind Swamy ), is arriving in the village to get married to her elder sister. But she get shocked when Rishi tolds her parents that he wants to marry with Roza instead of her elder sister. Later it is revelaed that Roja’s sister was in love with someone and therefore Rishi requests Roja’s hand for marraige.
Roja and Rishi get married to each other and starts living a good life. The couple also move out to live in the city. Indian Government assigns Rishi a posting at an army communications center in Kashmir. Rishi visits there alongwith Roja. But unfortunately, some Kashmiri militant kidnaps him. They demands the release of their terrorist leader, Wasim Khan, from prison in retuen of Rishi.
