Bollywood movie, Rudaali, starring Dimple Kapadia and Raj Babbar in lead roles was released in the year 1993. The movie was directed by well known filmmaker Kalpana Lazmi. The other actors who also played important roles in the film were Rakhee Gulzar, Raghuvir Yadav, Mita Vashisht, Manohar Singh and Amjad Khan. The melodious superhit hit music of the film was composed by Bhupen Hazarika while the songs were rendered by Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Akbar Khan and Bhupen Hazarika himself. The movie did well at the box office and Dimple Kapadia won rave reviews from audience for her absolute stunning performance in the film.

The movie belongs to a woman named Shanichari ( Dimple Kapadia ), who lives in a small village of Rajasthan. She was named so because shortly after her birth her father died and her mother ran away with her lover. Shanichari get married to Ganju and soon gave birth to a boy named Budhwa ( Raghuvir Yadav ). Local Landlord’s spoilt son, Lakshman Singh ( Raj Babbar ) is eyeing on Shanichari from quite sometime and want her to become his mistress. But Shanichari has no interest in him and doesn’t want to commit the same mistake which her mother did in past.

After few years, Shanichari’s son Ganju get killed by people when he tries to consume the holy water of a temple. Shanichari’s husband also get married to another woman and left his home to live in some other village. Shanichari is now alone in her home and nobody is there for her support. Then enters a women named Bhikni ( Rakhee Gulzar ) in her life. Bhikni is known as ‘Rudaali’ who earns money by weeping on any rich man’s death. Bhikini also wants Shanichari to work as Rudaali. Shanichari also starts doing the work of Rudaali and in her very first funeral, she recieves the saddest news of her life.
