Bollywood romantic family drama, Saaheb, directed by Anil ganguly and written by Sachin Bhowmick was released on January 31, 1985. The movie starred Anil Kapoor and Amrita Singh in lead roles while Vijay Arora, Rakhee Gulzar, Utpal Dtt, Biswajeet, Deven Verma, Satyendra Kapoor, A.K. Hangal and Dilip Dhawan also played important roles in the film. The melodious music of the movie was directed by none other than the well known music director Bappi Lahiri while the songs were crooned by Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhonsle, Bappi Lahiri etc.

The movie starts with a family headed by Mr. Sharma ( Utpal Dutt ). The family includes his three married son, an unmarried son Sunil aka Saaheb ( Anil Kapoor ) and a young daughter named Geeta ( Sudha Chopra ). Geeta’s marraige is arranged with a guy who is planning to go to London. But the condition for the marraige is that Shrama family have to arrange for all the expenses of his visit to London. Sharma family needs Rs. 50000 for this and they decides to sell their house for it.

But still they fails to arrange the amount they needs. Sharma’s three elder sons refuse to arrange money for the marraige. Mr. Sharma then takes it on his own to arrange the money needed for the marraige but all his efforts goes in vain. It is then the black sheep of the family, Sunil brings up the needed money to his father, who believes that he has stolen the money from somewhere. But he does not know the fact that Sunil has made an ultimate sacrifice for his sister’s wedding.
