Bollywood family drama, Saajan ki Saheli, directed by Saawan Kumar and written by Kamleshwar was released on January 30, 1981. The movie starred Rajendra Kumar and Rekha in lead roles while Vinod Mehra, Nutan behl, Suresh Obeori, Kalpana Iyer, Anil Dhawan, Praveen paul and Vijay Sharma also played important characters in the film. The music of the movie was directed by the female music director Usha Khanna while the songs were rendered by Mahendra Kapoor, Suresh Wadkar, Mohammed Rafi, Sulakshana Pandit, Asha Bhonsle etc.

The movie starts with young and beautiful Kunti Kumar ( Nutan Behl ), who is in love with a young man named Anil ( Anil Dhawan ) and planning to get married with him soon. Ona picnic trip the get intimate with each other as a result of which Kunit gets pregnant. Anil decides to get married with her but when Kunti reveals that Anil is froma poor family she refuse to marry him. She wants to get married with someone rich so that she cal live in the same wealthy environment in which she has been brought up. Heartbroken Anil suicides after her refusal to his marraige offer.

Kunti wants to abort the child but because of law she is forced to give birth to the child. She secretly gives birth to a baby girl and leaves her in her best friend Chand’a care. Kunti then get married with a wealthy barrsiter named Avinash Kumar ( Rajendra Kumar ). Years later, a beautiufl girl anmed Moon Moon Dhawan ( Rekha ) enters in their life with whom Kunti considers that Avinash is having an affair. But little does she knows that moon Moon is none other than the her own daughter.
