Saamri was a horror movie that was released on November 17, 1985. The movie was directed by Shyam Ramsay and Tulsi Ramsay while it was produced by Tulsi Ramsay. The top roles in the movie were enacted by Rajan Sippy, Puneet Issar, Aarti Guha and Jagdeep while the supporting roles were played by Asha Sachdev, Huma Khan, Prem Chopra, Anirudh Agarwal, Gulshan Grover and Jack Gaud. The music of the film was directed by Bappi Lahiri while the songs were sung by Bappi Lahiri, Kishore Kumar Ganguly, S Janaki, Amit Kumar Ganguly and Anup Jalota.

Saamri was a good horror movie of its time and did well to hold the attention of the viewers for a long time. The story of the movie revolved mostly around a man named Dharmesh Saxena aka Saamri ( Anirudh Agarwal ) who is a very wealthy man living in a small town. He is quite popular for his worship of Devi Maa Kaali and Magic. Dharmesh already knew that his end is near thus he summons his lawyer and wills his entire estate to his niece, Anju Trivedi ( Aarti Guha ).

The twist in the movie comes with the entry of a man named Mama Taklifchand ( Prem Chopra ) who is in fact Dharmesh’s step-brother. When Taklifchand finds out that Dharmesh was going to die, he along with the help of a gorgeous young woman Maria ( Asha Sachdev ), a hotel owner Khanna ( Gulshan Grover ), professor Chatterjee, and others, kill Dharmesh and throws his dead body in the river. Dharmesh’s body was recovered but he told the police that Dharmesh killed himself.
