Bollywood movie, Saathiya, directed by Shaad Ali was released on December 20, 2002. The movie starred Vivek Oberoi and Rani Mukherjee in lead roles while Tanuja, Sandhya Mridul and Satish Shah also played important roles in the film. The movie was distributed under tha banner of Yash Raj Films. The superhit music of the film was given by A. R. Rehman and the songs were sung by Sonu Nigam, Kunal Ganjawala, A.R. Rehman, Richa Sharma, Srinivas, Mahalaxmi, Madhushree, Sadhna Sargam, Adnan Sami, Asha Bhonsle etc. Shahrukh Khan and Tabu has performed special appearances in the film. The movie did well at the box office and became one of the biggest hit of that year.

The movie starts with Aditya Sehgal ( Vivek Oberoi ) and Suhani Sharma ( Rani Mukherjee ), who meets at a wedding function. Aditya is a law student while Suhani is a medical student. In the function, Aditya tries to flirt with her but strongly opposed by Suhani. But destiny plays it’s game and they once again meet in the Mumbai local train. Aditya expresses his love to Suhani to which she first opposes but later accepts as she also starts liking him. But same as the other love stories, their parents are against their relationship.

After their parents refusal, Aditya and Suhani first decides to keep distance from each other. But soon they realise that it would not be possible for them to live without each other. They finally decides to marry against the wish of their parents. Their parents throws them out of their houses. Aditya and Suhani get married and starts living in an apartment. But after some initial good days of their marraige, they starts fighting over every small issue. One day Aditya gets the news that Suhani has met with an accident. Aditya runs to the hospital only to find that Suhani has gone in coma.
