The romantic thriller movie Saaya was released on July 4, 2003 under the banner of Vishesh Films. The movie was directed by Anurag Basu and produced by Mahesh Bhatt. The main roles in the movie were played by John Abraham, Mahima Choudhary, Tara Sharma and Zohra Sehgal while the supporting roles were played by Harsh Chhaya and Raj Zutshi. The music of the film was directed by M M Kreem and Anu Malik while the songs were sung by Alka Yagnik, Shreya Ghosal, Sonu Nigam, Udit Narayan and K K.

Horror and thriller movies are the new trend in Bollywood at least this seems to be the fact after the movie Saaya. The story of the movie revolves around two doctors who are also in deep love with each other, Akash ( John Abraham ) and Maya ( Tara Sharma ). Tara who is a physician decides to go to Nagaland as a volunteer in a relief camp. She meets a tragic bus accident in the rain hit village and dies with her unborn child leaving behind Akash devastated. Akki aka Akash got himself under the burden of work in the hospital.

Gradually he gets a feeling that her dead wife is trying to contact and communicate to him through his patients who nearly met death incidents. His patients especially children tell him that she is inside a tunnel and calling him to that place but the place is unknown to the children. They also point out an unusual sign about which Akash doesn’t have any clue. Akash tries to explore this mystery and when he tells the story to his friends, they think that he has lost his senses. Maya’s friend and their next door neighbor Tanya ( Mahima Chaudhary ) also finds it difficult to believe.
