Bollywood movie, Sadak, directed by Mahesh Bhatt was released on 3 December 1991. The movie starred Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt in lead roles while Deepak Tijori, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Neelima Azim and Soni Razdan also played important roles in the film. The movie was released under the banner of Vishesh Films. The hit music of the film was given by the famous music director duo, Nadeem Shravan while the songs were sung by Abhijeet, Kumar Sanu, Anuradha Paudwal, Manhar Udhas etc. The movie did average business at the box office.

The movie starts with a taxi driver named Ravi ( Sanjay Dutt ), who is living a meaning less life and always haunted by his past life experiences. His sister was a prostitute and was killed by someone when she tried to leave that profession. Ravi always feels guilty that he failed to save his sister at that time. Then he meets with a beautiful girl named Pooja ( Pooja Bhatt ), who has been sold by her uncle to Maharani ( Sadashiv Amrapurkar ). Maharani is the king of the business of prostitution.

Ravi, with the help of his friend Gotya ( Deepak Tijori ), tries to save Pooja from becoming victim of this prostitute business. When no hopes left, he forcibly takes Pooja from Maharani and run away with her. He also seeks help from a police officer, Irani 9 Pankaj Dheer ), but he is also with Maharani. Meanwhile, his friend Gotya got killed by the mens of Maharani. Now Ravi seeks for revenge from Maharani and he returns to the city after leaving pooja at a safe location.
