Bollywood movie, Sangam, directed by Raj Kapoor was released in the year 1964. The movie starred Raj Kapoor, Vyjayantimala and Rajendra Kumar in lead roles. The movie was distributed under the banner of R.K.Films. The superhit music of the film was given by the famous music director duo Shankar Jaikishan and the songs were sung by Mohammed Rafi, Mukesh, Mahendra Kapoor, Lata Mangeshkar. Some of the song sequences in the film were shot in abroad locations. The film did well at the box office and became an instant hit at that time.

The movie starts with Sundar Khanna ( Raj Kapoor), who is madly in love with his childhood friend Radha ( Vyajayanimala ). But Radha likes Gopal Verma ( Rajendra Kumar ) instead of Sundar. Gopal also loves Radha but sacrifice his love for his friend, Sundar’s sake. However, Radha always try to keep a distance from Sunder and yells that she does not love him. But for Sundar, she is the only woman in the world. Sundar joins Indian Air Force and is send to a military mission in Kashmir. But before leaving, he asks for a favour from Gopal that in his absence he will not let any man come between Radha and himself.

Gopal gets the news that Sundar’s airplane is shot down over Kashmir and he has been presumed dead. After that Gopal and radha comes closer and expresses their love for each other. They decides to get married but get shocked when Sundar’s sudden appearance. Gopal once again sacrifice his love for Sundar. Now Sundar and Radha marries each other. One day, Sundar accidentally discovers the love letter Gopal had written to Radha.
