Bollywood suspense action thriller, Satyamev Jayate, directed by Raj N. Sippy and written by Vinay Shukla was released on June 18, 1987. The movie starred Vinod Khanna and Meenakshi Sheshadri in lead roles while Madhavi, Anita Raj, Anupam Kher, Shakti Kapoor, Satyendra Kapoor, Vinod Mehra, Om Shivpuri and Gulshan Grover also played important characters in the film. The melodious music of the film was directed by the well knwo music director Bappi lahiri while the songs were rendered by Udit Narayan, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Bappi Lahiri etc.

Arjun Singh ( Vinod Khanna ), is an honest and brave police inspector. He is the other name of terror for the criminals. Arjun is transferred to another city when a crminal dies because of his torture. However, Arjun denies to be the culprit of the death of that criminal. But finally, Arjun is forced to relocates in the new place. But he get shcoked to learn that he has been allotted the flat in the neighbourhood of the family of the guy, who was killed in the custody. The family consider Arjun as their biggest enemy in the whole world.

Arjun tries to get another transfer from the place but fails. Pooja Shashtri ( Madhavi ), sister of that guy and Vidya ( Anita Raj ) girlfriend of that guy seeks revenge from Arjun for his deed. They both are determined to get justice from the court. Arjun starts considering him the culprit of the death of that guy and starst drinking alcohol to forget about all these things. Arjun meets with Seema ( Meenakshi Shehadri ), who is a prostitue by profession. But how long it will go like this? What would be the end of this story?
