Saudagar, directed by biggest showmen of the bollywood industry Subhash Ghai, was released on 9 August 1991. The movie starred two veteran actors Dilip Kumar and Raajkumar in lead roles alongwith newcomer Vivek Mushran and Manisha Koirala. Mukesh Khanna and Jackie Shrauff also played important roles in the movie while Amrsih Puri and Gulshan Grover displayed their negative as well as cruel instincts in the film. The music of the film was given by Laxmikant-Pyarelal.

The movie is a story of two childhood friends, Veer Singh aka Veeru ( Dilip Kumar ) and Rajeshwar Pratap Singh aka Raju ( Raajkumar ). Rajeshwar’s younger sister loves Veeru and when Raajeshwar’s came to know about this he becomes extremely happy. But destiny plays its part and under some difficult circumstances, Dilip get married to a different girl. Raju becomes upset by Veeru’s decision and throw him out from his life. Chuniya ( Amrish Puri ), who is the brother-in-law of Raajeshwar, get succeed in seperating Veeru and Raju apart.

Chuniya plays his cruel game and kills Veeru’s elder son Vishal ( Jackie Shrauff ). Both Veeru and Raju are now the biggest enemy of each other. Veery’s grandson, Vasu ( Vivek Mushran ) and Raju’s granddaughter Radha ( Manisha Koirala ) falls in love with each other. They try their level best to reunite Raju and Veeru again. Whether they get successful in their mission or not is the rest of the story?
