Bollywood movie, Shaque, directed by Vikas Desai was released in the year 1976. The movie starred Vinod Khanna and Shabana Azmi in lead roles while Utpal Dutt, Farida Jalal, Bindu, Arvind Deshpande and Durga Khote also played important characters in the film. The hit melodious music of the movie was composed by the veteran music director Vasant Desai while the songs were beautifully crooned by Mohammed Rafi, Asha Bhonsle, Kumari Faiyaz, Vani Jairam etc.

The movie starts with a guy named Vinod Joshi ( Vinod Khanna ), who is living a middle class life alongwith hsi wife, Meena ( Shabana Azmi ) and a son. He wants to make a better living for his son and therefore works hard for acheiving his goal. he suddenly becomes rich when a fellow employee named Subramaniam ( Arvind Deshpande ) is arrested by police in the charge of performing robbery in the office. Subramaniam is sentenced to jail. Vinod is now living a wealthy lifestyle with his wife and son. But problem begins when Meena starts suspecting Vinod’s sudden wealth.

Meena reveals that Vinod’s co-worker, Maan Singh ( Utpal Dutt ), is spreading news that Vinod was the one who performed robbery and also killed a person in the process. She confronts Vinod for this but he refuse to accept the fact that he has killed and performed robbery in his office. But he also refuse to tell her about the source of their new found wealth. Now Meena decides to unravel the truth on her own.
