The family drama Sharda was released in the year of 1981. The movie was directed by Lekh Tandon and produced by K K Talwar. The top roles in the movie were played by Jeetendra, Sarika, Rameshwari and Kalpana Iyer while the supporting roles were played by Madan Puri, Dina Pathak, Jagdeep, Om Parkesh and Raj Babbar. The music of the film was directed by Laxmikant Kudalkar and Pyarelal while the songs were sung by Asha Bhosle, Mohammed Rafi, Anuradha Paudwal, Manna Dey, Lata Mangeshkar and Parveen, Sultana.

The movie Sharda was a family flick that revolved mostly around a man named Inder Malhotra ( Jeetendra ) who works as an executive in a organization. He is a very hard working person and is thus a serious candidate for promotion under his boss Mr. Kohli ( Madan Puri ). Kohli also plans to marry his daughter Anita ( Sarika ) with Inder due to his qualities. Everything seemed to be at a fast pace that Mr. Kohli met with Inder’s mother and the marriage is planned between the two families.

Everything was going fine until one day when Inder found self drunk. He was so much drunk that he promised an orphan Sharda ( Rameshwari ) to marry her. The marriage was planned by the Hindu traditions and Inder accepted the marriage even he was drunk. The problem was then posed by Inder’s mother as she was not ready for the marriage. She wanted to get Sharda killed and thus contacted Inder’s friend and colleague Jagdish ( Jagdeep ).
