Bollywood action thriller, Shastra, directed by Sanjay Khanna was released in the year 1996. The movie starred Suneil Shetty and Anjali Jathar in lead roles while Danny Denzongpa, Mukesh Rishi, Anupam Kher, Mohan Joshi and Farida Jalal also played important roles in the film. The music of the film was given by the trio Aadesh Srivastava, Sandeep Shirodkar and Yusuf Khan while the songs were sung by Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu, Alka Yagnik, Abhijeet, Sadhana Sargam, Babul Supriyo and Sunidhi Chauhan. The movie was a box office hit.

The movie starts with Vijay ( Suneil Shetty ), whose parents were brutally killed by his martial arts teacher, Babu ( Danny Denzongpa ). Babu was arrested by police and sentenced prison for ten years. Vijay grows up in the anger and the feeling of unjustice. He prepare himself for getting revenge from Babu when he will be released from jail. Years later, vijay is now studying in a college and is in love with a beautiful girl, Pooja Prasad ( Anjali Jathar ). Vijay learns that Babu has been released from jail few days back.

Vijay tries to locate Babu but get shocked when Babu himself contacts him by the phone and ask him to meet him as soon as possible. Vijay meets with Babu and there he is told by him that he is not the murderer of his parents. Infact he had been framed in his parent’s murder by someone. Now Vijay alongwith Babu set off for finding the real killer of his parents. Shanti Prasad ( Anupam Kher ), Pooja’s dad, offer him the job of a bouncer in his night club and he agrees as this is his first step in the search of his parent’s killer.
