The action film Shatru was released on August 15, 1986. The movie was directed as well as produced by Pramod Chakravorty. The key roles in the movie were played by Ashok Kumar, Raj Kiran, Rajesh Khanna and Shabana Azmi while Komal, Nutan, Prem Chopra, Birbal, Viju Khote, Manmouji, Mac Mohan, Om Shiv Puri and Sudhir were also there in the film. The music of the film was directed by R D Burman while the songs were sung by Kishore Kumar.

The movie Shatru was an action film that revolved mostly around a man and an Inspector named Ashok Sharma ( Rajesh Khanna ) who is currently required to take over an Inspector In-Charge ( Ashok Kumar ) of a remote police station and he does what was required. As soon he joins there, he rescues a blind man and a widow there who were involved in a fist fight with a man named Nishikant Shah ( Prem Chopra ) and his men.

The twist in the story comes when the next day Ashok finds that the men who fought with the blind men Shah was none other than the Inspector in charge himself. He soon goes to the police station to pay homage to the new Inspector Ashok but he refuses it. This was not liked by him so he plans a web with the local MLA to trap him in the charge of killing a man in custody. As a result Ashok faces severe charges and soon loses his job.
