Songs of Sheen


Sheen was a social movie released on May 7, 2004 under the banners of Samay Creations and Sahara One. The movie was directed and produced by Ashok Pandit. The main roles in the film were played by Raj Babbar, Tarun Arora, Sheen and Anoop Soni while the roles of Kiran Juneja and Mukesh Rishi were also significant. The music of the film was directed by Nadeem-Shravan and the songs were sung by Kavita Krishnamurthy, Udit Narayan, Mohammad Aziz, Shreya Ghosal and Nirja Pandit.

Director Ashok Pandit is renowned name atleast after him getting the RAPA awards for his documentary “Sharnarthi Apne Hi Desh Mein” that was based on the fact that some Kashmiri Pandits are forced to become refugees in their own country. The name of the movie Sheen means Snow in Kashmiri. Pandit Amarnath ( Raj Babbar ) lived in Kashmir and now is displaced from there and was made to live in refugee camps of Jammu. His non violent struggle takes him to Geneva where he seeks help of Intrenational communities.

Sheen ( Sheen ) is the daughter of Pandit Amarnath. Terrorism was at its peak in the Kashmir and in spite of this she does not wish to leave her place but was forced to live as a refugee. She has now become the active worker of the refugee camps and of the grievances of the others. Mannu ( Tarun Arora ) loves Sheen and despite losing his family at the hands of terrorism, he rises to fight it. Their childhood friend Shaukat ( Anoop Soni ) ended up becoming Muslim fundamentalist. The film tries to bring the hidden pain of the people of Kashmir.
