Bollywood action thriller, Shola Aur Shabnam, directed by David Dhawan was released on January 23, 1992. The movie starred Govinda and Divya Bharti in lead roles while Anupam Kher, Gulshan Grover, Mohnish Behl, Alok Nath, Harish Patel, Raja Bundela, Satyajeet Puri, Bindu and Archana Puran Singh also played important roles in the film. The music of the film was directed by Bappi Lahiri while the songs were rendered by Shailendra Singh, Abhijeet, Amit Kumar Ganguly, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Alka Yagnik and Shabbir Kumar. The movie did well at the box office and its songs also topped the music charts.

The movie starts with Karan ( Govinda ), who is enlisted in the National Cadet Corps. Major Inder Mohan Lahti ( Anupam Kher ) is the trainer of the whole group. Karan falls in love with a beautiful girl named Divya Thapa ( Divya Bharti ). Another fello student, Bali ( Mohnish Behl ) get smitten by Divya’s beauty and wants to get her at any cost. Divya falls for Karan and decides to get married with him only. Bali learns about Divya and Karan relationship and plays a trick to seperate both lovers. However, he fails in his attempt and is thrown out from National Cadet Corps by Major Lahti.

Bali, who is the younger brother of a notorious gangster, Kali Baba ( Gulshan Grover ), decides to take revenge from Karan for this. Kali manage to frame Karan in a rape and murder case. Divya starts hating Karan after this. Divya’s father, Yashpal Thapa ( Alok Nath ), who is the Police Commissioner of the city, tries to arrest Karan but he runs away. Karan is determined to prove himself innocent. He kidnaps Divya and tells her the truth but she refuses to accept his saying. How Karan will prove his innocence in front of Divya and Police?
