Bollywood action thriller flick, Sholay, directed by Ramesh Sippy was released on 15 august 1975. The movie starred Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra and Hema Malini in lead roles while Sanjeev Kumar, Jaya Bhaduri, Asrani, Jagdeep and Amjad Khan also played important roles in the movie. the superhit music of the film was given by none other then famous music director R.D. Burman and the songs were sung by Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Manna Dey etc. However, the film was initially declared a big commercial disaster but later it went to become one of the most successful film in the history of Indian Film industry.

The movie starts with former police inspector Thakur Baldev Singh ( Sanjeev Kumar ) who wants two thiefs, Jai ( Amitabh Bachchan ) and Veeru ( Dharmendra ) for a special work. He get succeed in tracking down the theives. Jai and Veeru works always together and are very close friends of each other. Thakur asks them to catch dacoit Gabbar Singh ( Amjad Khan ) for him and in return he will give them the appropriate money. He also says that the prize money announced by the goverment on catching Gabbar will also be given to them only.

Veeru and Jai tossesthe coin and decides to visit Ramgarh. At station they meet a very talkative but beautiful tangewaali named Basanti ( Hema Malini ). Veeru falls in love with her. When Gabbar gets the news of thakur hiring two mens for his arrest, he plans to attack on the village. Jai is held at the gun point by Gabbar. veeru asks Thakur to throw the gun lying just in front of him but Thakur stands still and doesn’t move any further. veeru somehow manages to save Jai from Gabbar. Gabbar also run away from there. Now angry veeru asks Thakur that why he didn’t moved a bit to throw the gun towards him. But when Thakur answers the reason to veeru he get shocked completely.
