The action thriller movie Shoot out at Lokhandwala was released on May 25, 2007 under the banner of White Feather Films. The movie has been directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced by Sanjay Gupta and Sanjay Dutt. The lead roles were played by Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Vivek Oberoi, Sanjay Dutt, Arbaaz Khan, Sunil Shetty and Tusshar Kapoor while Neha Dhupia, Aarti Chhabria, Dia Mirza and Amrita Singh also performed well in the movie. The music of the film has been directed by Anand Raj Anand, Biddu and Mika Singh and the songs were sung by Sunidhi Chauhan, Mika Singh, Sukhwinder Singh and Dr. Palash Sen.

The story of the movie is solely based on the actual six hours of fight that happened between the police and a group of gangsters few years ago at Lokhandwala in Mumbai. This was the one of the mosts cruel encounters in the history of the Mumbai police. The encounter was important because Dawood Ibrahim’s henchmen Maya Dolas and some others were killed by the victorious team of commissioner of police Aftaab Ahmed Khan. Director Apoorva Lakhia and producer Sanjay Gupta have done a good research to portray the incidence as it is in the film.

The story of the movie revolves around A.C.P Shamsher Khan ( Sanjay Dutt ), Inspector Kaviraj Patil ( Suniel Shetty ) and Inspector Javed Shahikh ( Arbaaz Khan ), the three tough and brave cops who got engaged in the heavy encounter with the gangsters in a local residential area in Mumbai city. The movie also displays the life of a gangster Maya Dolas ( Vivek Oberoi ) and the A.T.S ( Anti Terrorist Squad ). Meeta Mattoo ( Dia Mirza ), the beautiful and talented reporter covers the incident live, Aai( Amrita Singh ) is the proud mother of Maya and Tannu ( Aarti Chabria ) plays a bar dancer.
