Yesteryear classic movie, Shri 420, produced and directed by Raj Kapoor was released in the year 1955. The movie starred Raj Kapoor and Nargis in lead roles while Nadira played supporting role in the film. The superhit music of the film was given by the famous music director duo Shankar-Jaikishen and the songs were sung by Mukesh, Lata Mangeshkar, Manna Dey, Asha Bhonsle, Mohammed Rafi. The movie did well at the box office and went on to become a huge hit of that year.

The movie starts with a young educated, Raj ( Raj Kapoor ), who travels to the city in the hope of getting a good job for earning his living there. But after reaching there he learns that his qualification doesn’t matter at all for providing him a qualified job. But he doesn’t loose heart and give another try to his luck. In the meanwhile he meets with a beautiful girl named Vidya ( Nargis ) and falls in love with her.

A businessman named, Seth ( Nemo ), uses Raj for his own benefits. He seduces Raj with the help of sultry Maya ( Nadira ), to the rich lifestyle. Raj now becomes a swindler and get used by Seth for his own benifits. But very soon Seth betrays him and throws him out from his house. Now Raj realise his mistake and decides to go to her true love, Vidya. He also decides to leave all the bad things and be a good man in the rest of his life.
