Socha Na Tha was a romantic comedy film released on March 4, 2005 under the banner of Vijayta Films. The movie was directed by Imtiaz Ali and produced by Dharmendra. The important roles in the film were played by Abhay Deol, Kabir Bedi, Ayesha Takia and Dipannita Sharma while the roles of Rati Agnihotri and Ayesha Jhulka were equally important. The music of the film was directed by Sandesh Shandilya and the songs were sung by Sanjeevini, Sadhana Sargam, Sunidhi Chauhan, Kunal Ganjawala and Sandesh Shandilya.

The movie Socha Na Tha was special to the lead actor Abhay Deol who made his debut with this film. Abhay is the nephew of Dharmendra and cousin of Sunny and Bobby Deol. The movie is also the debut of the director Imtiaz Ali. The movie didn’t do as much as it was expected to do and the acting of the lead actor Abhay was nothing special, in fact it seemed that he put his more efforts in the film than were required. The film claims to be a journey of a man from careless courtships to responsible romanticism.

The movie starts with everyone wanting Viren ( Abhay Deol ) to marry the girl of their choice Aditi ( Ayesha Takia ). Despite this Viren had no problems with her but still can’t marry her though everything was all perfect them, the caste, the family and the stars. Viren tells her in private that he is in love with a catholic girl name d Karen and want to marry her. Their wedding crashes and picks up the fights and tensions between the two families. He proposes to Karen who agrees, even her parents agrees to accept him but the opposition was provided by his own parents. Slowly Viren also start liking Aditi.
