Bollywood family drama, Sotan Ki Beti, directed by Saawan Kumar and written by Kamleshwar was released on June 27, 1989. The movie starred Jeetendra and Rekha in lead roles while Jayapradha, Vijayendra ghatge, Sumeet Sehgal, Anil Kumar, Dipnti and Nisha Prashant also played imprtant characters in the film. The hit melodious music of the movie was directed by none other than the music director Vedpal while the songs were rendered by Kishore Kumar, Anuradha paudwal, Lata mangeshkar, Sadhana Sargam etc.

Shyam Verma ( Jeetendra ) is a doctor by profession and is living alongwth his father in Bombay. He falls in love with a beautiful girl named Radha ( Rekha ), who is an air hostess by profession. They get intimate with each other and as a result of this Radha gets pregnant. Shyam’s father passes away but before dying he makes Shyam promise that he will marry with his friend’s daughter, Rukmani ( Jayapradha ). Shyam and Rukmani get married with each other. Heartbroken, Radha decides to go away from Shyam’s life and relocates to Kashmir. There she gives birth to a baby girl and names her Dipniti ( Dipniti ).

After two years, Shyam and Radha once again meets with each other. When Rukmani reveals about their relationship she decides to get them married too. Years later, Dipniti is now a grown up girl and is in love with a guy named Amit Kumar ( Sumeet Sehgal ). Shyam and Radha agrees for the marriage of Amit and Dipniti. But Amit’s father refuse to allow his son to get married with the daughter of a mistress. He even make Shyam, Rukmani and Radha get arrested in the charge of bigamy. What to happen next?
