The family drama Star was released on October 22, 1982. The movie was directed by Vinod Pandey and produced by Biddu. The top roles in the movie were played by Kumar Gaurav, Raj Kiran, Rati Agnihotri and Saeed Jaffrey while the supporting roles were played by Dina Pathak, A K Hangal, Padmini Kolhapure, Raja Bundela, Bob Christo and Rajendra Kumar. The music of the film was directed by Biddu while the songs were sung by Zoheb Hassan and Nazia Hassan.

The movie Star was a family flick that revolved mostly around a man named Dev Kumar Verma ( Kumar Gaurav ) who belonged to a middle class family. He was required to find a job for him soon so that he could support his father back ( A.K. Hangal ) and mother ( Dina Pathak ). However Dev had something else in his mind, he wanted to make it big in the music field. He wanted to be someone like Elvis Presley, the music sensation.

As a result, Dev loses his job and he never cared to find another as he wanted to take job with his liking. This was not liked by his parents and his brother Shiv Kumar ( Raj Kiran ). The movie takes a turn when one day he finds his employment with the Charlie’s Disco, and it is where he meets a beautiful girl name Maya ( Rati Agnihotri ). Both fell in love with each other and wanted to marry each other soon. He soon meets a man named Rana ( Saeed Jaffrey ) who was Charlie’s competitor.
