Yesteryear bollywood hit, Suhaag, directed by Manmohan Desai was released on October 30, 1979. The movie starred Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor and Rekha in lead roles while Parveen Babi, Nirupa Roy, Kadar Khan, Amjad Khan, Ranjeet and Jeevan also played significant characters in the movie. The music of the film was given by music director duo Laxmikant Pyarelal while the songs of the movie were rendered by Mohammed Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, Shailendra Singh and Asha Bhonsle.

Kishen Kapoor ( Shashi Kapoor ) and Amit Kapoor ( Amitabh Bachchan ) are two brothers who were seperated by destiny in their childhood. Kishen is brought up by his mother, Durga Kapoor ( Nirupa Roy ) while Amit is by a criminal Pascal ( Jeevan ). Years after, Kishen becomes a police officer and Amit becomes a alcoholic criminal. Amit comes in the company of Kishen and becomes they both becomes very close friend. Amit also leaves his illegal business and stops his all criminal activities.

Gangster Vikram ( Amjad Khan ) hires Amit to kill Kishen, who is becoming a very big problem for him and his business. Amit and Kishen plans to arrest him. Everything goes acoording to plan but at the last moment, Vikram manages to run away from there. And in the process of arresting him, Kishen looses his eyesight. Angry Amit wants to take revenge from Vikram and therefore decides to join Police department.
