Sunayana was romantic family drama movie released in 1979 under the banner of Rajshri Productions Pvt Ltd. Tarachand Barjatya produced and Hiren Nag directed the movie. The star cast of the movie involved Naseruddin Shah, Rameshwari and Vijayendra while, Viju Khote, Pinchoo Kapoor, and Leela Mishra played the supporting roles. Vijay Yesudas sang the songs while Ravindra Jain gave the music as well as the music for the movie.

Raju ( Naseeruddin Shah ) is an honest villager with a heart of gold. When he approaches the city, he comes across a fine-looking girl, Sunayana ( Rameshwari ), who is almost run over by car. On assisting her, she informs him that she was blind. She resides in a tiny hut with a neighborly woman, Maushi ( Leela Mishra ), a flower seller. Raju, being a kind man helps in Sunayana’s medical treatment so that she could see again.

He approaches different kinds of people in his attempt ,namely a wealthy suicidal drunk, Heeramohan ( Pinchoo Kapoor ), Circus owner ( Mukri ) , Lion-tamer, Shamsher ( Rajendra Nath ), Prisoner Jaggoo ( Jagdeep ) and Prisoner #204 ( Viju Khote ). He also comes across Dr. Indrajeet ( Vijayendra Ghatge ) and pays him an amount of Rs.2000/- for Sunayana’s treatment .When Sunayana is alleviated and Raju has been imprisoned ,Dr. Indrajeet shelters her. After Raju is released, he finds that Sunayana had married Dr. Indrajeet.
