The social movie Swami was released on June 8, 2007 and was directed as well as produced by Ganesh Acharya. The actors in the lead roles were Juhi Chawla, Ashok Beniwal, Mithun Chakraborty and Manoj Bajpai while significant roles were played by Bharat, Manmeet Singh, Neha Pendse, Amey Pandya and Aryan Thakkar. The music of the film was directed by Nitin Arora and Sony Chandy and the songs were sung by Hariharan and K.S. Chitra.

Swami is a social movie with simple story and also a simple star casts. The movies like this take us to the era of Bollywood movies of 1960s and 1970s. The subject on which the movie is based is rare and is usually not employed these days. Swami is a story of an ordinary middle class family and does not offer much to the viewers. The story revolves around a man named Swami ( Manoj Bajpai ) who lives in a village with his wife Radha ( Juhi Chawla ). He has an interest of collecting Rs 5 coins and promises to not to spend them. He also had a fantasy of having a rocking chair but didn’t tell anyone about it because it was unaffordable to him.

Radha liked watching the Television a lot and even liked watching cars, tall buildings and bridges more. She just wanted the best education for her son Angad ( Siddharth ) so that he can get settle in US and get a good job there. She asked Swami to search a job in Mumbai, the family then shifts to Mumbai. Angad is a hard working boy who wants to fulfill their parents’ dreams. Radha fell sick and passed away and then it became the duty of Swami to look after Angad. Angad managed to get a job in US but Swami was denied the Visa.
