Songs of Swati


The social drama Swati was released in the year of 1986. The movie was directed by Kranthi Kumar and produced by T L V Prasad. The key roles in the movie were enacted by Shashi Kapoor, Sharmila Tagore, Meenakshi Seshadri and Madhuri Dixit while the supporting roles were played by Vinod Mehra, Raja Bundela and Akbar Khan. The music of the film was directed by Laxmikant Kudalkar and Pyarelal while the songs were sung by Anuradha Paudwal and S.P. Balasubramaniam.

The movie Swati was a social film that revolved mostly round a woman named Sharda ( Sharmila Tagore ). She is in deep love with a man and wanted to marry him at any cost. But the movie takes a turn when some of her friends were not able to control themselves and forces themselves onto her thereby leaving her pregnant. When her boyfriend whom she loved the most, came to know about all this, he left her alone. She was shocked and decided to keep her child and named her Swati.

Sharda relocates in the southern part of the country and to earn her living she served as a nurse with Dr. Rajendra. Swati ( Meenakshi Sheshadri ) matures with time and loved her mother very much. She is not only a girl capable of defending herself but was also outspoken. She befriends Ram Mohan ( Akbar Khan ), an activist, who is often in trouble with the police. Swati marries with someone of her choice and was worried about her mother. So Swati asks Rajendra, a widower, to marry her mother to which he agrees.
