Songs of Swayamvar
Swayamvar was an action comedy released on May 9, 1980. The movie was directed by P Sambasiva Rao and produced by Satish Kumar. The main roles in the movie were played by Sanjeev Kumar, Madan Puri, Moushmi Chatterjee and Ranjeet while the presence of Shashi Kapoor, Vidya Sinha, Shashikala, Nana Palsikar and Birbal supported the film. The music of the film was directed by Rajesh Roshan while the songs were sung by Kishore Kumar, Mohammed Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar.
Swayamvar was an action cum comic flick that revolved mostly around a man named Amirchand Bhargav. He is kind hearted and a generous man who is always ready to help others. He marries for the second time to a lady named Durgadevi Bhargav ( Nadira ) who is exactly opposite to her husband. She made herself the queen of the house and ruled the entire house with the help of her brother named Makhanlal ( Madan Puri ).
The movie takes a turn when she started treating her step-daughter, Shanti ( Vidya Sinha ) like a servant. She was so rude and brutal that her beatings often killed the servants and thus the household work was required to be done by Shanti only. Her own daughter named Roopa ( Moushumi Chatterjee ) was a spoilt and short tempered child. Her late husband’s employee named Ratanlal ( Shreeram Lagoo ) approaches her and asks for her daughters’ marriage to his sons, he was humiliated by her.
