Taal was romantic musical movie released on August 13, 1999 under the banner of Mukta Arts Ltd. The movie was directed and produced by Subhash Ghai. The significant roles in the movie were played by Anil Kapoor, Alok Nath, Aishwarya Rai and Akshaye Khanna while Amrish Puri and Sushma Seth also played important roles. The music of the movie was directed by A R Rahman and the songs were sung by Anuradha Sriram, Richa Sharma, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Aditya Narayan, Sujatha and Sonu Nigam.

The movie Taal was directed by the famous director Subhash Ghai who is regarded as the showman of the Bollywood. The movie is more of a musical love story and revolves mostly aoound Aishwarya Rai. The movie is a love triangle between Mansi ( Aishwarya Rai ), Manav ( Akshaye Khanna ) and Vikrant ( Anil Kapoor ). Mansi lives in Himachal Pradesh and is a daughter of village folk singer cum dancer. Manav, a businessman comes to Chamba who falls for the place as well as Mansi.

Manav promise Mansi to marry her and returns back. The problem was posed by her uncle and separates the lovers. Then Mansi comes across a famous music director Vikrant Kapur who also owns a music company. He finds a hidden talent inside her and promises her to make a star. He did complete his promise to make her a star but falls for her in the process. Aishwarya did a great job of playing the role of a woman supporting her father first than her love. The movie has been shot in the scenic locations of Himachal Pradesh.
