Bollywood action thriller, Takkar, directed by Bharat Rangachary was released on July 14, 1995. The movie starred Suniel Shetty and Sonali Bendre in lead roles while Naseeruddin Shah, Archana Puran Singh, Shafi Inamadar, Ishrat Ali, Mohan Joshi, Ajit Vachani, Sudhir Dalvi, Kunika, Himani Shivpuri, Tiku Talsania and Rakesh Bedi also played important roles in the film. The music of the film was given by famous music composer Anu Malik while the songs were sung by Abhijeet, Kumar Sanu, Alka Yagnik, Sapna Mukherjee etc. The movie did well at the box office window.

Ravi Malhotra ( Suniel Shetty ) and his girlfriend, Mohini ( Sonali Bendre ) are planning to get married soon. Their marriage date is fixed by their family members. But n the day of their wedding, Mohini gets the news that Ravi is hospitilized. Mohini learns that Ravi was shot by a Police Inspector, D’Costa ( Naseeruddin Shah ) in an encounter. She also learns that Ravi has been charged for the selling and using drugs. Ravi recovers from his injury and tries to prove himself innocent in the court but he fails. Ravi is sentenced to the prison for four years.

In jail, Raj decides to study law so that he can take revenge from D’Cousta after coming outside of the prison. On the otherhand, D’Cousta, who is attracted to the beauty of Mohini, wants to get her in bed at any cost. However, Mohini always tries to kepp a distance from him. Raj completes his prison time and is discharged from the jail. Raja and Mohini get married with each other. And after that Raj seeks revenge from D’Cousta and he takes the help of Mohini in this.
